Review of The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone (1961) by Christopher E — 02 Feb 2008
Not Tennessee Williams' best, but a haunting, sad, and deeply moving story. Vivien Leigh and Lotte Lenya are brilliant. Warren Beatty is charming, if a completely miscast. Overall, a thought provoking piece of art.
Retrospect is gained if the viewer is aware of both Williams' and Leigh's real lives - it makes the journey all the more devastating.
