Review of The Roads Not Taken (2020) by Jluis_001 — 30 Apr 2020
From what I read this film was a way for Sally Potter to deal with her grief over the loss of her brother and yet despite the personal theme, it's not a good a film.
The Roads Not Taken is clearly a personal film for the director but it's also an incredibly frustrating film because when enclosing the thematic in certain narrative niche, it will only manage to connect with people who evidently have seen themselves in the situations of this story and unfortunately Sally Potter is incapable of make both the story and the characters matter to you, the way I assume or think she expected her audience to do so and for that reason it becomes very difficult to maintain the interest.
For what I can process this was a therapeutic work for Sally Potter and obviously something that she needed to express and perhaps after that moving on and that's why this films belongs to her in a way that the public will not be able to absorb and because of that, it fails to be more engaging.
