Branded as the savior of Hollywood by Spielberg himself, Tom Cruise once again puts his star power to the test to create an exceptional action movie, and he has undoubtedly succeeded once again. That's what I truly admire about him. He doesn't attempt to be subtle or adhere to the notion that less is more. The truth is that more is more, and Cruise understands the importance of offering something that truly inspires people, whose motivation to go to the movies has unfortunately been tarnished by the prevalence of streaming.

Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One may follow the same formula, but what's wrong with that when the spectacle is as invigorating and dynamic? When it's as tense as it is exciting. Cruise and his sidekick Christopher McQuarrie haven't failed to up the ante with each installment, and once again they've delivered one of the best action films in recent years.

Of course, it is necessary to address the flaws. The first one would be the choice of the villain. Does Skynet ring a bell? That felt somewhat weak, to be honest.

The second issue would be the slowdowns that interrupt the excitement of the action sequences. I understand that they are meant to provide some breathing room, but I personally wasn't a fan of them. However, it is important to note that they do not hinder the flow of the narrative. This movie has a runtime of 163 minutes, and I can honestly say that I have seen 90-minute films that felt much longer. So believe me, time flies in here.

The third negative aspect to address would be the construction of the cliffhanger. While the events leading up to it are impressive, I must say the script lacks the necessary sense of urgency to effectively resolve the conflict heading into part two and that is a problem that's tied with the damn poor villain. As for the rest, it is pure entertainment bliss. Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One delivers on its grand scale, and the spectacle benefits from it in every way.

I had a great time watching it and left the theater more than satisfied. These are two essential elements that any blockbuster must strive for and accomplish.

If you have the opportunity to see it in IMAX, I highly recommend you choose that option.
