Review of The Right Stuff (1983) by Tim G — 22 Aug 2009
A very good encapsulation of the early NASA and Mercury programs. The actors are uncannily similar to their real life counterparts, and the action grabs you from the very beginning of the picture. Several of the surviving original Mercury astronauts say that this movie was pretty close to the real thing.
Tom Hanks later followed up with his From The Earth To The Moon and together, you get an idea of how the program began and later brought America to the moon by the end of the decade of the Sixties.
