Review of The Right Stuff (1983) by Mike L — 13 Jul 2012
An engrossing and well directed story about the early days of the American space program. Perhaps what the movie captures best is the unknown qualities associated with the space program and everything it entailed, the main issue being can we do this. The actors are all great and convey the uneasiness of once we up in space how do we get back expression all of us would of felt at the time.
The movie is long, 3+ hours, and while it is covering 15 years and is faithful to the book there are extraneous parts that I could of skipped, the whole mystic/Aborigines part for one.
Still an authentic and well done film on a fascinating part of American history that is quickly becoming obsolete, which is sad.
