Review of The Right Stuff (1983) by Alasdair B — 19 Sep 2014
Breaking the barrier of sound and sending the first American man into space were two pivotal events in American history. "The Right Stuff" does those events justice. From start to finish the film had me hooked. The spirit of the film captures the American spirit perfectly. It is filmed exceedingly well, with a smart script and fine actors. It has drama mixed with the right amount of comedy.
The production on this film is astounding, considering back then there was no CGI and only practical effects. The capsule...space craft and all the props and set pieces are great.
"The Right Stuff" is a fantastic space movie. It has beautiful cinematography, a top notch cast, great humor, and shows the heart of the American dream: to sour high. To break barriers. To make the unknown known.
