Review of The Revenant (2015) by Kim B — 06 Oct 2016
A violent, beautiful shot nightmare from the days of pioneering America. It did seem a bit far fetched at times and overly gruesome , but is loosely based on a true story. However, overall good performances and it kept my interest.
The main guy glass dies about 50 times on his quest for vengeance, but his human will and a few lucky incidences keeps him going. That bear scene was so scary. Some ppl will find this movie boring bc there isnt much dialogue and some of it is more imagery than action.
However, I really enjoyed the shots of nature in Canada, where this was filmed, in setting the harsh but beautiful scene. I also really liked the themes about human strength and karma. Such a sad and scary time in r history those pioneering days.
