Review of The Returned (2004) by Simon D — 08 Oct 2011

I am impressed that somebody dared to make a zombie movie and resisted the temptation to make it a stupid horror movie. As in a lot of french films this is without humour and the dialogue is limited only to the essential lines but it's a very original idea and well made.

The only problems I have with this is that there are many questions left unanswered and many topics that could have been explored but were not. Nobody seemed to be interested in how it came to be that all these dead people returned to the living and no-one asks the question about the afterlife.

I guess these are questions that the filmmakers were not up to the challenge of answering.
