Review of The Relic (1997) by Dylan C — 14 Jun 2010
The Relic is a well made B-movie. It's dialogue is smarter than one might expect and funny when it wants to be. The story progresses nicely and while this movie wasn't scary, it was a fun watch.
It's a monster movie that knows what it's doing, and thus does it's job well. It keeps the monster out of sight until the end and has plenty of jump out surprises, some fake and some real.
My only complaint is that at the end, it would have been nice to see more of the monster, which is very well made, kudos to the creature design team. The Relic is as good as any B-movie about a vicious man eating monster could be.
If you're on the edge of deciding whether to see this film, I'd recommend you take the plunge.
