Review of The Red Violin (1998) by Howard F — 25 Aug 2011
Samuel L. Jackson was horridly miscast. The late 17th century scenes seemed too modern in lighting. The only redeeming quality--in my mind--was the vignette between Jason Flemyng and Greta Scacchi.
This had great potential, but even if Jackson were replaced with someone who could actually come across as a snobbish fine art appraiser, it would have done the movie good.
