Review of The Red Violin (1998) by Filippo S — 02 Oct 2013
I just don't get critics, especially the ones who panned this film. It's essentially perfect. The cast is balanced, the story artful, the direction delicate and tasteful, the music simultaneously complementary and distinctive.
I'm definitely not into art house films, but this one is so good it had me hooked from the first scene. And if it can do that, it has to be truly exceptional. I've watched it a half dozen times over the years, and I've yet to tire of it.
