Review of The Red Cliff (1949) by Ray P — 27 Nov 2009
Great set pieces, stylishly shot, and scenic locations make this movie really stand out. This is as big of an epic as you can get, the number of soldiers and horses in one place is in itself epic. The story is clever and does well to balance the carnage with drama and serene scenes.
Part one on it's own does feel unfinished and although the entire film is close to five hours it does not feel like it. Great chinese movie with great popular chinese actors of this generation, depicting characters you can actually care about.
