Review of The Raven (2012) by Ole J — 13 Oct 2012
The presentation of this film is very good, the scenery (dark alleys and gloomy locations), the sounds and music (the set in and fill the room or breaks the suspense), the story (also a dark and gloomy one, but with research and poetry that fits), the effects (they are not wild computer animations, but look more classic theatre like and that works very well) and the acting (there are several good actors), but especially John Cusack and Luke Evans are great.
This is a very strange film, it fits in with films like Sleepy Hollow or maybe even Sweeney Todd, but it is entertaining even with the macabre and gory murders. I was entertained and found it very interesting.
