I don't know if Poe was in real life, an utter arse, but to project this image upon him seems to be Cusack's raison d'etre in this role. It's all a bit of a shambles, and certainly not anywhere near as dark (or as fun) as Poe's tales.

Bleedin' liberties are taken. If you don't take this as having anything to do with Poe at all you might enjoy it mildly over a bottle of wine, tho chances are the film may not keep you awake.
