Review of The Raven (2012) by Michael H — 18 Feb 2013
We look into a film that is dedicated to the darkened mine of the infamous Edgar Poe, famous poet, who is troubled due to many grisly murders happening; from a killer who is mocking his very own work of horror!
As much as I enjoy John Cusack's work, I didn't think this was a good choice to play Poe. Don't get me wrong, the characterization was there on the spot. He did a great job, but I figure from a man who has quite the dark mind of Poe, I don't see Cusack in this role. The movie premise was put together slightly creatively, but it wasn't ingenious, more of a portrayal of Poe's story.
The film was mediocre, but it wasn't bad either. Slightly better than average in my book.
