Review of The Rainmaker (1997) by Codie E — 22 Oct 2007
With the cast and crew this film has it should really be better than it is. Particularly in light of Damon and DeVito's very good performances and some classic Grisham courtroom scenes; but Coppola can't quite pin down the humour that is clearly intended and it doesn't quite fit the rest of the film, added to this the somewhat perfunctary storyline with Clarie Danes that in a longer version may have great weight but it is a little out of place here.
My major criticism though is the horrendous score, Elmer Bernstein's score would have been out of place in The Big Easy never mind this, unbelievably bad and inappropriate.
