Review of The Quiet Man (1952) by Rita W — 22 Dec 2007
Just wonderful. John Wayne, the real actor, Maureen O'Hara at her stubborn-Irish best. To prepare, find the original short story. John Ford's idealized "homeland" from his mother's memories.
Man comes home, yet needs to understand the locals to fit in comfortably. Love the inside as well as the locale. Watch for anacronisms.
