In a amazing change of pace for both true Westerners John Wayne and director John Ford, The Quiet Man is a love letter to the Irish countryside. In one of Wayne's most subtle, most balanced performances he carries the film, and Maureen O'Hara is great at her red-haired cracker jack best.
