Review of The Quick and the Dead (1995) by Kyle E — 09 Dec 2007
This is fun stuff. Don't think about it and wack it on late on a saturday night and it's entertaining. But the problem is Raimi's style just doesn't suit this, he hadn't matured enough as a filmmaker yet, imagine Spider-Man with the amount of silly techniques displayed in this? But any criticisms just slip away when you see the cast: Sharon Stone, Gene Hackman, Russell Crowe, Leonardo DiCaprio, Keith David, Lance Henriksen, Pat Hingle, Gary Sinise, hell you've even got the baddie from the Saw movies thrown in there for good measure! Its interesting that the woman who put it all together, the leading lady, is in fact the weakest of all the actors, quite simply miscast.
Could have done maybe with Cate Blanchett. But hey, at least its fun.
