Review of The Quick and the Dead (1995) by Robert G — 08 Jun 2010
It is hard to think you can have Gene Hackman and Russell Crowe in the same movie and not have it just be amazing. Of course, then someone had to cast Leonardo DiCaprio in this one and it almost ruined the entire movie.
I don't dislike DiCaprio but he should not do another western if he can avoid it. Overall the film has a good pace and is really well shot (what would you expect from the same directer that gave us Spider Man).
However Sharon Stone and DiCaprio seem really out of place and that hurts the rating. In time this will probably be considered one of the great westerns of our time. The ending sequence is classic at the very least.
