As much as I like to see Woody in his films, I really appreciate his restraint in this fairytale.
Don't let The Last Action Hero ruin this premise for you: during the depression, a bedraggled wife Cecilia (Farrow) of a boozing, gambling, abusive husband (Aiello) finds her love of films convinces a character to leap off the celluloid and into her life. The movie character quickly learns that Hollywood and real life are two very different things, while the actor who plays the character (Daniels) wants his likeness back in the pictures.
A bittersweet film and a true reflection of all that is magical in American film making. Check it out!
