Review of The Purple Rose of Cairo (1985) by Pierluigi P — 05 Apr 2011
An enjoyable Woody Allen fantasy about a downtrodden Depression-era woman who finds true love with a movie character who escapes from the screen to be with her. The real-world tale is fanciful, and it's perfectly counterpointed by the witty scenes involving the remaining movie players who are trapped onscreen, unable to continue their story.
