Review of The Proposition (2005) by Luke S — 27 Jun 2012
Put your privates back in your pants and turn around.
A notorious outlaw and his younger brother are arrested and jailed. The outlaw's older brother is a ruthless killer and the sheriff tells the middle brother if he kills his older brother in the next 9 days, he'll release the younger brother from jail; if he doesn't, he'll kill the younger brother. The outlaw has a predicament on his hands.
"Never raise a glass with a man you do not know.".
John Hillcoat, director of The Road, Lawless, and the upcoming Triple Nine, delivers Proposition. The storyline for this picture is interesting and the action scenes are excellent. The acting is fairly solid and the cast includes Guy Pearce, Noah Taylor, Ray Winstone, and Danny Huston.
"Clearly I am what I wish to be.".
Proposition was a film I came across while flicking through the channels last Friday night. I am a fan of westerns and thought this film had potential. It was worth following and watching to its conclusion but wasn't as good as 3:10 to Yuma, Tombstone, or Appaloosa. This is worth watching on cable but I would not recommend purchasing this picture.
"I will civilize this land.".
Grade: C+.
