Review of The Postman Always Rings Twice (1946) by Sarah G — 15 Jun 2009
What the heck is up with flixster's descriptions of movies? This one is completely off. Anyway... Garfield and Turner are brilliant. The story is intriguing and really draws you in. I'll have to watch Double Indemnity now since I understand it is basically the same thing.
.. I don't know why the same guy wrote the same story (basically) twice. It seems kind of dumb but whatever. Garfield and Turner have great chemistry and basically smolder sexiness. Their scenes together in this are hotter than most modern sex scenes.
But that is not really what makes the film great. It's interesting to see how they plan the murder, how the lawyers figure it out, and how it changes everything. The character development is great.
It is a tragic ending but still well done.
