Review of The Plague Dogs (1982) by Sean C — 16 Apr 2010
The Plague Dogs is heart breaking, slow paced, and badly animated with a poorly written plot.
The story it's self is heart breaking and depressing as the two dogs escape from a lab where they were tested on and try to survive in the wild. A fox helps them in return for sharing their kill but the fox seems to do well on his own and it's a wonder as to why he sticks around as the dogs repeatedly put his life in jeopardy.
The animation is terrible and sometimes distracting. The backgrounds tend to be dark and the characters bright.
The story is straight forward with little to keep you interested. The humans fearing the plague are the only trouble the dogs encounter besides trying to survive. The ending is extremely sad and despite its poor plot you can't help but worry and wonder what became of the two dogs as the film ends in a cliff hanger and just as you feel ready to cry the ending credits are accompanied by cheerful, uplifting music that seems so out of place you wonder what the producers were thinking.
