Review of The Pirate Movie (1982) by Drew R — 07 Sep 2007
This remake of The Pirates of Penzance is surprisingly witty and intelligent under what is apparently one of the worst major release films ever made. The Mabel character is surprisingly feminist, and, in Gilbert and Sullivan fashion, there is a biting critique of colonialism, particularly in the rewording of "The Major General's Song.
" Did I mention this is a musical?
