Review of The Pirate Movie (1982) by Troy H — 30 May 2013
It's not Shakespeare. It's not high brow. What it is though is humourous, romantic, silly, over the top, campy family fun!!! Don't take everything so seriously. Some "bad" movies make for the best movies.
This rock-n-roll version of "The Pirates of Penzance" far outweighs its inspiration by far. Kristy McNichol here is in her most feminine role ever. Curly blonde hair, off the shoulder white linen dress with slits up to the hip, barefoot and swooning over a loin cloth dressed Christopher Atkins and all set within the world of dastardly pirates.
I have loved this film since childhood. I'm always up for a Kristy McNichol film.
