Review of The Pink Panther (1963) by Gavin S — 27 Sep 2012
Mildly dissapointed, but then again, I did enjoy the stylish 60s in full colour. David Niven is the star of this one, a suave jewel thief, and you can see why he was originally the one wanted to play James Bond (the action part may not have worked as well, but he was one suave mofo).
Peter Sellers introduces Inspector Clouseau to the world, and in this movie, he's not actually a complete bumbling fool. A young Robert Wagner shows up as Niven's nephew. The film has a bit of the screwball comedy to it in places, but seems to want to be taken seriously for far too much of the running time, but it's still a decent flick.
The soundtrack is great, and anyone who listens can hear where Swollen Members took one of their big hits from.
