Review of The Piano Teacher (2001) by Chevelle H — 22 Mar 2008
Another disturbing movie for the books. I found this one to be more shocking and strange than most though. The movie was rather boring up till the first sexual encounter in the bathroom, from there it became a mystery.
Erika is wonderfully played by Isabelle Huppert. Erika is a character that I feel mostly disgusted towards, but also have some sympathy with. She's so messed up that we can forget about contemplating on why and how she became like that.
For me this movie had little meaning. It was like watching a study of aberrant sexual fantasies coming to life. Something I have no interest in, or any knowledge about. This is a special interest movie for sure, and definitely not for me.
