Review of The Piano Teacher (2001) by Andrew G — 03 Jul 2015
I just finished the film five minutes ago. I read some other reviews of those who liked it and they are way more eloquent than I. Suffice to say, this movie won't be for everyone but I was riveted.
It is disturbing but not in the same way that a movie like Precious is disturbing. This film, for me, was unemotionally disturbing. No tears or anything close to that for me here. I just had a complete fascination with the sickness of the characters.
I really don't know what to say--so many others (who liked it) have explained it perfectly. Even a few of those who didn't like it I also agree with. I can't promise you will like this film--I don't even know if I would have liked it on a different day.
Today I loved it.
