Review of The Piano (1993) by Heather T — 20 Mar 2008
My mother warned me (when I was about... seven?) NOT to watch this movie, as it was terrible. What she meant, I think, was that Harvey Keitel could pottentially scar me for life with his gratuitous... clotheslessness.
Because I don't know what's good for me, I promptly dissobayed her, and watched it at the first opportunity. I did not fully understand it (and yes, I was wildly confused by the sex scenes), but it was nonetheless fascinating.
All these years later I still think so. Why Ada was mute for so long is one of the questions I'm going to ask my divine creator (it's an oh so long list...).
