Review of The Pianist (2002) by Dalibor S — 03 Jun 2015
Another great Polanski film! Or should we say one of the greatest War Drama films I've ever seen. The production value of course is one of the best. Such a fantastic film. No wonder why it won so many awards and it should won an Oscar for best picture.
The first half of this film is so agonizing to watch, very heart breaking and devastating. It shows how the people in Warsaw suffers from slavery till its holocaust. The 2nd part focuses more on the main protagonist Wladyslaw Szpilman (Adrian Brody) As he struggles to survive and pass through the war.
The scenes are almost surreal. Just like the atmosphere of this film. I love how they mix the dark look grains of the picture quality of the film. It fits perfectly. Beautifully shot film! I like how they shot those scenes up-close and it feels very real.
Impressive job by Adrian Brody, I think he is a good actor. Maybe if he is offered with good roles from great great filmmakers. I think he can perform very well. Overall this is one of those films that is a "hard to watch films" especially for a casual movie goer like me, but it is definitely a masterpiece.
And definitely a must have Blu-Ray. Perfect 5 of course..
