Review of The Phantom Wagon (1939) by Jacob G — 22 Jan 2012
The first 30 minutes are pure tedium as it lays the groundwork for the tale. But once it gets going The Phantom Carriage is a tense little film that takes obvious cues from A Christmas Carol and features scenes you'll swear you!ve seen before.
...from filmmakers it has influenced. Don't expect a specific genre--it uses multiple ones to tell it's story, but embraces none so fully to satisfy someone looking for a genre fix. Instead watch it to enjoy a story and it'll be a fabulous experience.
