Review of The Phantom of the Opera (2004) by Ernest C — 02 Oct 2011
This film is a frustrating but fair adaptation of the undoubtedly better stage production. It is frustrating becuase although there are some noticeably weak performances (Gerard Butler in particular), I cannot help but get swept up in the grandness and the emotion of it all.
Framing the story in the way it did was interesting, but the ending was strange and would have been better left as in the stage production.
