Review of The Phantom of the Opera (1925) by Chad J — 07 Nov 2007
Old monster movies are the best. Lon Chaney's makeup was incredible [and so much more incredible that he did it all himself] and he was able to emote so well through it. This is so much better than the Gerard Butler musical version, that one was just a mess.
Everything about this one was awesome; sets, costumes, music, as I previously stated, Lon Chaney's amazing [albeit melodramatic] acting, etc. One complaint, the quality of the print I saw was shit, I need to see a remastered version or something like that to fully appreciate it.
