Review of The People Under the Stairs (1991) by Josh K — 09 Dec 2008
A movie about a little kid joining up with a pair of criminals to rob a house. The caveat here is that the house is owned a husband and wife duo who kidnap children, mutilate them, and throw them into the basement, feeding them whoever happens to wander to closely to the house.
Also the husband and wife are several generations inbred and the husband runs around the house in a gimp suit blowing holes in the walls and ceiling with a combat shotgun. Anyway, so the little kid, who's a really sharp tongued scrapper type, goes into the house and the couple of criminals he's with get murdered, and the kid gets trapped in the house with the two crazy people, and their physically and mentally abused daughter who helps the kid out.
It's really surprisingly weird and over the top considering the dark nature of the story, the kid kicks dudes in the nuts and hits them over the head with bricks and shit. It's kind of like Home Alone, but if Kevin got left home alone at Jeffry Dahmer's house.
If that sounds like an entertaining premise, then watch it, if not, we can't be friends any more. :(.
