Review of The Pelican Brief (1993) by Sharon H — 15 Oct 2010
The kind of movie that should replace the bullshit movies that are on Tv saturdays nights, but for some reason has been completely forgotten. Seeing this film 17 years after it's original release probably makes me appreciate it more than if I had seen it in theaters.
It's a paced thriller, very 90's style cinema, perfect for a sunday night. It takes it's time, and it can allow itself to take it's time with actors like Denzel Washington and Julia Roberts.
The story can get somewhat complexe, my girlfriend fell asleep for 5 minutes and then she couldn't understand the rest of the movie. Yes, it is the kind of movie that you can fall asleep in front of, but honestly, there are still some really nerve recking edge of your seat scenes in the film.
It's defenitely not what you call a must see, but I prefer watching a political thriller with a complex narrative than all the teenage comedy stoner movies that come out in cinemas every week. I enjoyed this, re watchable.
