Review of The Peanuts Movie (2015) by Miley M — 08 Jan 2016
"Peanuts" was lazy. Terribly lazy. The writers lifted scene after scene from previous animations and the comic strip, but lacked a fundamental understanding of the subject. There were so many dumb things that the few cute ones just didn't make up for it.
I'm a lifelong "Peanuts" fan, and I walked out. I mean I get that they'll throw Patty and Marcie into the same school (even though they went to a different one), but to put Linus and Sally into the same class was just lazy.
Top it off with the lackluster comedy that's been recycled for 50 years without a break and it was just a yawnfest. Yeah, this is a show for kids. I get that. But there have been many offering throughout movie history that were kids offerings that were simply amazing for adults as well. (Toy Story I-III anyone?).
This was a football that was yanked away by Lucy just as I was about to kick it.
