I have made it my personal Easter tradition to watch this movie every year. To me this movie captures the person of Jesus in a way that no other modern movie ever has. And knowing the person Jesus makes the Christ Jesus all the more moving and powerful. As Pope John Paul II said after seeing it: "It is as it was.".
It's been revealed very publicly that the movie's creator, Mel Gibson, had been involved in some very negative personal issues. Nevertheless, I believe that God used Gibson's undeniable talent and resources to produce this masterful story. The Bible is full of stories where God used flawed people to do great things. There's hope for all of us!
I highly recommend this movie no matter what your faith. If you're not Christian it will at least be informative. It very artistically, graphically, intensely and poetically depicts the very core of Christian Faith.
