Review of The Passion of the Christ (2004) by Elmer S — 07 Apr 2012
As a Christian, this movie put into perspective what Christ did go through for each of us, and He did so willingly!! As that was the will of God, His Father - as Jesus said in the Garden of Gethsemane, in Luke 22:42, New International Version (NIV).
"Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done." He did as the prophet Isaiah said over 500 years earlier as well as those before him. In past Holly Wood movies depicting the Death, Burial and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, those versions were very much toned down for viewers' to be more appeased. In Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ", what took place, in my opinion, was a more actual depiction of what Jesus did go through during His last 12 hrs of life. He endured so much pain for each of us to have a chance at eternal life through Him - being that He willingly gave His own life for us all, I was more than willing to give Him my all. I have Parkinson's and Type I Diabetes and deal with the constant issues of those two things every day. In addition, my youngest son is Autistic - yet, I know that Christ is taking care of us and will take care of us no matter what takes place. Because of my faith in Christ, even regardless our current circumstances, I know my faith is stronger in Him because He went through so much more and so much worse than what I am going through now. To say that I was appalled by the scenes in the movie, as some people did in previous posts on this movie and topic, would be an injustice!! I view taking the Lord's Supper, or Communion, in a different light now - I take the bread and the juice as symbols of what Christ did: gave His life for us so that we can live, if we so choose!!!
