Review of The Panic in Needle Park (1971) by Michael O — 13 Jul 2010
Al Pacino's first big role, and he makes it all his own. I also really liked Kitty Winn, who I haven't really seen in anything else. Really low-down, depressing look at junkies, with no frills.
If Trainspotting is "Fun" and Requiem for a Dream is "heartbreaking", both are still filled with stylistic flamboyance. This is like a documentary, with the occasional appearance from Paul Sorvino and Raul Julia!
