Review of The Panic in Needle Park (1971) by Nick T — 15 Mar 2011
The love story of two heroin addicts in New York City, as their relationship endures drugs, imprisonment, prostitution, and the death of a dog at sea. Al Pacino and Kitty Winn are both very good individually, but didn't seem to me to have much chemistry.
The endless run-ins with police get tiresome, and the slow pace was a little grueling. Still, the fact that this type of sub-culture of drugs existed as far back as 1971, and it must have been more confronting and controversial in its day.
