Review of The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976) by Matt M — 01 Aug 2013
One of Eastwood's earlier films is also one of his best. A compelling western about a man joining a gang of confederate raiders to get revenge on the group of outlaws that killed his family, this is the tale of a man that want to live in peace but has no trust in the institutions to help him achieve piece of mind.
Resembling a more pacifist version of a Leone thriller, this film also has surprisingly witty dialogue and a Clint Eastwood in top form behind and in front of the camera who shows great sensitivity to the subject and to a structure that was hardly ever rendered as human as it is in The Outlaw Josey Wales.
