Review of The Onion Movie (2008) by Paul K — 08 Jul 2008
For those of you who are unfamiliar with "The Onion": They're a satire news network who release free videos (search for them on youtube or myspace video). And now, they've made a full length movie.
If you like the Onion news sketches, you will definitely like this movie. It is full of what the Onion news does best: Bringing you extremely absurd news stories. There is a very thin red line throughout the movie that tries to tie the individual sketches together on a way very much like Monty Python does, but not equally good. In the end it is just a collection of funny scenes: From clueless protesting Alzheimer's patients and pornstars demanding to be fucked harder and the Queen Nathan II gay fuckfest boat to the first comatose freestyle diver, blind stock car drivers and also nerds and geeks getting killed by ogres. Yes, you should see this.
