Review of The Omen (1976) by Sobrina I — 09 Jun 2009
Perfection. This is a textbook example of a truly great horror movie, one might almost call it a gold standard. This brings all the items that soon became somewhat cliched, but Jerry Goldsmith's groundbreaking score along with Richard Donner's nuanced direction keeps this film ticking along at the perfect pace.
The deaths are exactly what one expects from such a movie; spectacular and frankly preposterous but are handled in such a way that disbelief is truly suspended. All the actors bring their A-game to this movie, I cannot recommend anything higher.
A Classic.
