Review of The Omen (1976) by Melissa S — 20 Aug 2009
After severe disappointment with the 2006 remake, I hardly expected much of a thirty-year-old horror flick. But the original Omen is truly worth of it's status as a horror classic. Not only is the acting ten times better with a much better plaeyed-out plot, anything the re-make can do, the original did better.
From what knowledge I have, this information used is pretty accurate, such as an alleged anti-christ rising from the world of politics and the haunting musical score is perfectly fitting for the dark storyline. When the chilling chorus begins amidst the eerie silence, you know something's going to happen, meaning this old thriller does the job of suspense much better than its impatient modern children.
I really enjoyed watching this, and its a classic you should make time to watch some time in your life, but don't bother yourself with the '06 version - it's not worth the time.
