The story of a poor young man falling in love with a rich woman. Despite The Notebook's reputation as one of the best romantic movies of recent times, and despite its few charming moments based around an interesting romantic concept which is revealed at the end, it also makes use of a lot of clichés and seems to have a taste for wallowing into sloppiness and cheesiness.
