Nancy Drew's investigations are repeatedly derailed by the jarring lack of chemistry between Ryan Gosling and anyone else.
Oh, and the villain? Played (for reasons inexplicable) by Kim Basinger. But even the awfulness of her performance is upstaged by Amelia, who is doubtlessly the least capable actress to ever appear on screen with A-listers.
Cast so poorly, not even Russell Crowe could save it.
The handful of one-liners and slapstick bits that do work are not nearly enough to compensate for the baked-in casting and structural flaws.
Simply terrible.
