Review of The Nice Guys (2016) by Andy B — 05 Nov 2016
The wackiness of the plot didn't match the restrained performances of the actors. Shane Black's previous entries (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Iron Man 3) had over-the-top performances which helped the silliness of the situations.
Unfortunately, Black isn't able to get that kind of energy out of Crowe and Gosling, and it brings the whole movie down a couple of notches. When we finally get to the whole reason behind the whodunit, it's so anticlimactic that it ends up being disappointing.
