Review of The Neon Demon (2016) by Jake H — 08 Sep 2016
Once again Refn knocks it out of the park! A much better product than Only God Forgives. While it's as beautiful shot and lit as OGF, it has much more to say. A film that would make Dario Argento proud.
The bled of style and substance is just enough not leaning too far in either direction. Superb efforts from all involved as well as a devastatingly, twisted and beautiful final reel. While being full of a lot of bizarre imagery it does form a cohesive and poignant plot.
